Winter of Discontent

Kaja Montgomery
acrylic and collage on masonite
27.5" x 15"   2012

This began as a way of doing art with my sons. A collective collage. They lost interest and I continued. I had so many left over Thank You wedding photos. I took relish in ripping them up and gluing them on. I was extremely frustrated in my marriage. Bitter. Thus came the title. But as I progressed it became more an exploration into what I wanted in my marriage. The words are Peace, Balance, Love, Freedom and Hope. In the end it was the bird lit up by the brilliant sun that summarized the feeling of this painting. I still wanted the marriage to work and was hoping that I could find a way to make it happen.
